Home Shoot

Situated in beautiful Sussex countryside, the Home Shoot at Petworth shows quality birds in a traditional way.

Sussex is renowned for its woodland and the estate is blessed with an abundance of long established hardwood drives.

The home shoot lets a limited number of driven days each season. Here guns may enjoy excellent sport, good food and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The many small valleys and undulating grounds provide birds capable of testing even the most experienced shots!

Close proximity to London and two major airports is welcomed by guests who appreciate the ease of access, excellent local hotels
are available for those wishing to to stay a little longer.

A converted granary at Stag Park Farm provides a picturesque setting for shoot lunches.

Deer management on the Leconfield Estate at Petworth has two very different branches.

The Capability Brown designed deer park has some of the finest examples of fallow deer to be found in Britain or indeed the world. The estate has exported animals to both establish new deer parks and to improve existing blood lines in many different countries. Surplus animals if not sold are culled to supply a growing market in venison, which is increasingly in demand for its healthy, low fat, high, protein properties.

Outside the deer park, three species of wild deer are carefully managed. Numbers are maintained not just to ensure that deer populations live in harmony with farming and forestry, but that their impact is not detrimental to the rich and diverse flora and fauna to be found in our abundant woods, hedgerows and meadows. Deer stalking under supervision is available on the estate and Petworth is famous for its classic roe heads.

Venison makes a natural, healthy and delicious low fat alternative to beef or lamb.  Leconfield Estate venison is sold to local and national restaurants, and is often available in local butchers’ shops.
